Swarnabharath Scheme of Government of India
There was a time when India was famous as ‘SONE KI CHIDIYAA’.
Although several factors may be attributed for such glorious recognition as we had rich culture, systematic scriptures for teaching, big educational network worth attracting scholars from all over the world etc.
Apart from the factors listed or even not listed above, India was rich too. Around 1600 AD, India’s per capita GDP was US $ 1305, which was more than America, Japan, China and Britain at that time. India was among the leading exporters before East India Company came to India.
It is said that during the reign of Rama no one was poor and nothing in the market was even sold. Everything was available to anyone without any payment. Let us see the proof:
छं0-बाजार रुचिर न बनइ बरनत बस्तु बिनु गथ पाइए। (highlighted words mean that nothing was to be paid)
। (27/9 of Shri Ram Charit Manas Uttarkand)
And also point to be noted is:
नहिं दरिद्र कोउ दुखी न दीना। नहिं कोउ अबुध न लच्छन हीना।। (20/6 of Shri Ram Charit Manas Uttarkand)
You can see even today the wealth in South Indian temples which could not be looted that much as compared to Northern Indian temples. Once the same situation prevailed all over.
The present Government has once again stood up to raise the nose of We Indians. Among several steps, it has introduced some steps with respect to Gold held in the Houses of we Indians to bring it into the mainstream of overall National Development.
India has an estimated 20,000 tonnes of gold lying idle with Indian households and institutions.
The name SWARNBHARAT has been given to the same initiative. This is aimed at bringing the gold lying with citizens into the economy, and at reducing India’s dependence on gold imports.
Let us take an overview of the same. In this context there are 3 relevant things to be known. They are:
- Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme (SGB)
- Gold Monetisation Scheme
- Indian Gold Coin
